For my June garden tour, we’ll be focusing on some easy to grow, and easy to use, medicinal herbs.
We’ll make our way through the whole garden, stopping along the way to talk about certain herbs that have grown well for me, and that I enjoy making remedies from. I’ll talk about how they like to grow, what other helpful permaculture functions they have, and how to use them in your own home apothecary.
Some herbs I plan on talking about include mints, lemon balm, yarrow, St. John’s Wort, fireweed, sage, echinacea, mugwort, calendula, elderflower and elderberry, hops, raspberry, motherwort, arnica, anise hyssop, and others. Questions are welcome the whole time!
At the end, I’ll have a flyer you are welcome to take with information on medicinal herbs, including tips on growing, using, where to buy plants and seeds, and a recommended book and website list. I will have plants available if you wish to take a look at those as well. They are really in need of new homes and going in the ground, so I’ll be basically offering these on a free/donation basis. Please give them a home!
It can get hot in my garden this time of year, so I recommend using sun protection/hat/sunglasses. I will have some fresh herbal lemonade available to share as well.
Location: 3606 Taylor Ave., in the Ridgemont neighborhood of Bellingham, WA. Parking will be available on Taylor Ave. Kids welcome, please no dogs. Tour will start at ~4:30. I hope you can make it!
